This medium-small business is hiring an Accountant that will be the right hand of the Controller in a small, stable accounting team. This is an industrial business that doesn't have a fancy office, but it has great intangibles. The outgoing Accountant had great things to say about the controller, the company is incredibly stable, is 100% recession proof, parking is free, it is consistently 40 hours per week with a 7-3:30 schedule with appropriate flexibility when needed, medical insurance is covered 100% for the EE, 401K profit sharing bonus and you get the chance to work on a wide variety of functions.
The Accountant will own most general ledger functions, bank and GL reconciliations, payroll for about 100 EEs (using Paychex) across two locations with a couple of unions (union experience a plus, but not required) as well as a variety of accounting functions including month-end close for two entities and AR management. Additional duties depending on the individual's skill set with training to handle the more advanced functions available. Depending on experience, this position may also act as a lead to clerical staff, assist with various budget and financial statement work, handle responsibilities for state and local tax, and other related duties as necessary. Candidates must have 3+ years of related experience, a bachelors degree is plus, but not required, experience Great Plains Dynamics or a similar system is highly preferred, intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and a positive and highly dependable personality. Payroll experience is highly preferred, but can be taught if the right candidate is stronger in all the other accounting skills.
The outgoing Accountant is also willing to return as necessary to help train, so this should be a smooth and positive transition. Target compensation is $60,000 - 75,000 plus full medical, 401K with profit sharing bonus, free parking, and other benefits.
