“Challenge yourself; it’s the only path which leads to growth.” Head of Finance LOCATION | Portland, Oregon or Remote Job Description Reporting to the CEO & Co-Founder, Marty Kagan, Hydrolix seeks a Vice President of Finance to oversee all aspects of financial planning, accounting, legal, KPIs, and board reporting. You will play a critical role in the rapid scaling of the business.
Key Responsibilities Lead financial operations, including accounting and financial reporting. Manage outsourced accounting firm to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Own FP&A, including budgeting, financial modeling, and forecasting. Identify, track and report on key financial and non-financial performance metrics to inform decision making.
Coordinate preparation of board materials, including preparing and presenting financials and other metrics.
In coordination with the Director of Business systems, strengthen and integrate business systems, including accounting platform, payroll, CRM, etc.
Coordinate and ensure good hygiene on tax returns, audits, legal, insurance, and administrative aspects of HR. Quarterback ad-hoc strategic projects.
Support departmental leaders with analytic support, such as working with sales and marketing on compensation plans, commission calculations, pipeline and funnel analytics, and with operations on infrastructure cost modeling and allocations.
Over time, attract and build a world class finance and accounting team.
Qualifications and Skills 10+ years of finance experience at high-growth, VC-backed, business-to-business technology companies.
Past experience at $10-50M ARR-stage companies growing >100% YoY and/or at database or observability companies is a plus.
Proficient in three-statement financials models, SaaS revenue recognition, and quantitative analysis. Able to identify and report on key business drivers.
Dynamic range to initially do the modeling in Excel yourself and, over time, build out a finance and accounting team, managing and QC’ing others work.
Polished financial and other quantitative data storyteller. Experienced at presenting to board members and investors.
Track record of successfully negotiating agreements, and supporting negotiations, with partners, customers, and vendors.
Experience with venture capital and growth-equity fundraising.
Strong analytics, communication, and interpersonal skills. Good work ethic.
Open to fully remote candidates but candidates located in Portland are a plus.
