Job Description Job Description OVERVIEW : The Field Technician is responsible for working primarily on active construction sites. You will be involved with field observation, testing, sampling and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement. Note: All disciplines may not be encountered on every project. Under the direction of more senior technicians or staff professionals and project managers, you will perform routine field and/or laboratory tests and assist in more complex tasks, as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBI LITIES:

Perform testing and observations on commercial construction projects

Prepare daily reports on observation activities

Review observation and test data for accuracy and completeness

Assist with training and mentoring of junior staff as needed

Work with project engineers and clients to ensure that client specifications are followed

Daily communication is required with site contractors, other technicians and project managers

Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Driver's License

ACI Concrete Field Testing Tech Grade 1 & 2

Soil and Flexible Base Properties Specialist Required

SP 101-102-103

Asphalt Certification

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
