Job Description and Duties

This position is located in Sacramento County in Sacramento.

Most positions at CDCR Enterprise Information Services are eligible for telework. This position requires local in-person duties to be performed although some telework may be available.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations is seeking a conscientious team player who can improve collaboration and execute IT service delivery to various programs that supports CDCR mission.

Under general supervision of the Information Technology Supervisor Manager I the Information Technology Associate (ITA) provides support to customers using the Department's Information Technology mission critical and business essential computer systems. The ITA will provide 1st and 2nd level standard desktop support. Within the scope and complexity of the Associate level IT assignments, the incumbent operates within a largely diverse technical environment but within a clear accountability framework and possesses the necessary general and technical competencies to prioritize work, initiate contact, and resolve issues. The incumbent is expected to know and apply knowledge about the organization's customer, stakeholder, business priorities and environment in order to complete work assignments in an effective, accurate, and timely manner. Interactions primarily with executive and headquarter offices, the Enterprise Service Desk, and 3rd-level subject matter experts require the incumbent to demonstrate the basic competencies associated with team leadership. Travel to institutions and after hours support of technical systems may be required due to operational need.

The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application's progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. After the final filing date, applicants will receive an email from [email protected] or DoNotReply@CDCR (depending on the email provider), with direction on creating and/or accessing their account.

For HRTS communication, this is in reference to Job Requisition (JR) 1152.

Working Conditions

EIS HQ Support is currently located in the Downtown Sacramento area in the central business district of the city of Sacramento. Downtown is one of the busiest and liveliest areas in the city, crowded with both locals and visitors. This area of the city is close to parks William Land and Freemont, museums California Museum, California State Rail Road and Sutter's Fort and plenty of places to shop, coffee shops and restaurants: Bernardo's, Shoki Ramen House, Burgers and Brew, and Iron Horse Tavern. Also close to public transportation the 16th street light rail.

This position will be relocating in the next few months in the Sacramento Region.
