Position Summary:
Assistive Technology Trainers meet with individuals in the community to provide training on the use of adaptive technology to address disability-related needs while providing for greater independence in the person’s everyday life. The Trainer works with individuals from a wide range of employment and educational backgrounds (retail workers, farmers, corporate executives, government officials, high school certificates, college students, PhD degrees). The primary responsibility is to help individuals learn technology (high and low tech) so they can obtain or maintain gainful employment, success in school, return to work, or develop improved work skills. The Trainer provides a vital service that has substantial impact on the quality of life of persons served.

Essential Functions:
Deliver, install, configure computer equipment and assistive technology hardware and software at employment and training sites across Indiana.
Provide training and ongoing technical support to clients, educators, caregivers, and other team members involved in the implementation and use of assistive technology.
Extensive travel throughout the state of Indiana. Overnight travel may be required occasionally.
Assist with marketing Assistive Technology services by providing tech tips, trainings, seminars, and other marketing tasks as needed.
Ability to meet productivity standards and goals established by supervisor.

Other Duties as assigned: This position may require other duties including but not limited to administrative support and program support.
Education, Licenses, or Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or associate degree in rehabilitation technology or related field preferred.
Completion of related certification program(s) and/or prior experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Valid driver license.
Experience required:
Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
1-2yrs experience in Assistive Technology or related field strongly preferred.
Strong computer skills for communication and data tracking and reporting.
General Skills:
Ability to prioritize and provide self-direction.
Ability and desire to learn new systems and technology solutions.
Ability to communicate and maintain good relationships and interactions with consumers, other staff, other agency personnel and other persons in the community.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to provide accurate case documentation.
Working Hours: Schedule varies, typically 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Minimum of 40 hours per week.
