Our non-profit client is looking for an new Director of Finance in a hybrid capacity!
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establishes and maintains all accounting systems to ensure the financial integrity of the organization.
• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and expense management.
• Lead the process of creating annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Prepares and monitors agency wide and program budgets, providing insights and recommendations for adjustments as needed.
• Develop and implement financial strategies and plans aligned with the agency goals and mission.
• Research financial trends, performance metrics, and market conditions to support strategic recommendations to the executive leadership and the broad.
• Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to the executive leadership, board of directors, and relevant committees.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and prevent fraud.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and grant funding stipulations.
• Reviews and monitors contracts and grant funds for financial compliance and reporting deadlines.
• Stay current with nonprofit financial regulations and reporting standards.
• Ensure the organization’s financial practices adhere to applicable laws and regulations, including tax-exempt status requirements.
• Prepares and monitors invoices and reporting.
• Coordinate and oversee the annual financial audit process, working with auditors to provide necessary documentation and resolve any issues.
• Prepare and summit required tax forms and filings, such as Form 990 for tax-exempt organizations.
• Coordinates banking, insurance, healthcare, long term investments and audit relationships.
• Manage cash flow to ensure the nonprofit’s financial stability and ability to meet its obligations.
• Acts as human resource coordinator for agency.
• Manage and mentor the finance team, provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
• Foster a collaborative and results-driven environment within the finance department.
• Provide technical assistance to other organizations regarding accounting and financial systems to assist in streamlining functions.
• Other responsibilities and duties as negotiated and assigned by the Executive Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree and experience in a non-profit or similar organization as a Director of Finance or Controller.
• Experience in strategic financial planning for creating and implementing financial strategies that support the organization’s objectives.
• Proficiency in the use of QuickBooks.
• Working knowledge of grant and proposal development.
• CPA is desirable.
