Design Engineer - Electrical Design and Commissioning

Description The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Design Engineer in the Automation, Integration, and System Protection (AISP) Department. The Design Engineer will perform routine engineering for electrical design and commissioning tasks; create drawings, calculations, and support field commissioning activities under the supervision of a lead engineer. This position will require travel throughout the state of California primarily working in substations and hydroelectric facilities. An ideal candidate for this hybrid position would be located in the greater Sacramento area.

What You'll Do

Assist in the design, development, and implementation of protective relay replacement projects, including: electrical design, design calculations, relay setting development, development of relay test plans, and/or SCADA/HMI design. Additionally, the engineer will support field commissioning and testing activities and similar technical work within the power/renewable market.

What We Expect from You

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. ABET accredited program or equivalent required.

Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.

At least 2 years of experience in the engineering industry.

Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete engineering tasks.

Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports to see that these items are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound engineering practice.

Practices efficiency engineering as it pertains to design selection.

Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality.

Works closely with engineering technicians and experienced electrical engineers.

Performs detailed engineering design and evaluations within specialty.

Prepares reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.

May participate in marketing, sales and business development activities within assigned market.

Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

Effectively communicates and interacts with clients to ensure we are meeting their needs.

Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline.

Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access).

Ability to work in a high-paced team environment.

Willing to travel 30-50% of the time.

Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving standards.

Must have permanent authorization to work in the US.

Additional Opportunity Details:

Compensation Range is Generally +/- 15% of Position Mid-Point of $113,300*
