Summary of Position
The person hired for the position of Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer will be part of an EHS team providing safety, risk reduction, and environmental consulting services as assigned for the site’s Production and Plant Engineering operations in Northridge California.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure implementation and manage environmental, occupational health, and safety programs
Collects and prepare environmental safety and health data and reports trends and results to departments, and management
Maintain safety and environmental programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions, and/or environmental findings
Deliver environmental/safety/EHS-related trainings
Conduct safety risk assessments and participate in the development of risk mitigation plans
Conduct ergonomic assessments and provide recommendations for improvements
Conduct accident and incident investigations to determine the root cause and participate in the corrective action plan
Oversee environmental programs ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Develop, train to, and audit emergency response protocols
Conducts defined technical and/or project tasks within the environmental, health, and safety field, leading to the successful completion of assigned project(s)
Support EHS audit protocols and conduct compliance audits of site
Performs other duties in support of department as needed and assigned to meet Kindeva’s overall goals in reducing energy consumption, GHG emissions, water consumption and waste generation.
Work with a team to solve moderately complex issues
Working knowledge of Cal-OSHA safety regulations and safety related industry standards
Working knowledge of EPA, Cal-EPA, Industrial wastewater, SCAQMD regulations and best management industry practices
Three (3) years experience with completing hazard inventories and risk assessments in a manufacturing environment
Three (3) years of combined laboratory and/or manufacturing/production experience (with an emphasis on EHS) in a private, public, government or military environment
Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, environmental, or safety from an accredited university.
Hazardous Materials Waste Management Certification (HMWM), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) a plus
Ability to work independently or with a multi-functional team and good attention to detail
Prefer minimum of 5 years of environmental, industrial hygiene, or safety experience in manufacturing or R&D environment, preferably in pharmaceutical
Strong analytical skills and ability to deliver results
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with advanced Microsoft Office computer skills, especially in Excel
Proven ability to interact with others in a timely, informative, and professional manner.
