Job Summary: The position of Director of Behavioral Health Services is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all behavioral health care provided in Mazzoni Center’s Department of Behavioral Health and for the quality of services rendered. The Director of Behavioral Health will ensure proper functioning of day-to-day operations of the Department and will foster an integrated behavioral health model of care within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting. Serves as a member of management team at Mazzoni Center. Reports to the Executive Medical Officer (EMO) and collaborates with the Medical Director, Director of Nursing and Integrated Services and the Director of Practice Management as well as other Mazzoni Center Directors to ensure integration of services and care across departments. Delivers Behavioral Health care.
Communication: Good oral and written communication skills are required for this position. The person in this position must be able to communicate effectively with the clients, staff, and others; and contribute to a positive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivery of Behavioral Health Care
Provides direct care to behavioral health patients
Administrative Responsibilities
Collaborates with the Quality team to develop and support implementation of quality improvement projects
Provide overall administration of performance, stability and growth of behavioral health program through the development of long-term goals and annual objectives
Establish policies, procedures and standards of operation for the department
Provide direct administrative and clinical supervision to behavioral health staff
Monitor and evaluate individual staff and program performance and implement corrective action policies as necessary for ongoing quality improvement
Ensure compliance with administrative and clinical mandates, regulations and standards set forth by funders, licensing boards and agency policies
Collaborates with EMO on the completion and submission of grant and funding opportunities
Collaborate with EMO on preparation of annual program budget
Responsible for overseeing the hiring, onboarding, promoting and termination of behavioral health staff
Report data and other program operations information to the EMO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT)
Ensure development and implementation of staff’s annual professional development plans
Liaison between insurance companies to maintain credentialing and scout potential new contracting opportunities
Review patient satisfaction data and address client grievances as necessary
Interface with Athena EMR system to ensure system is being used to full potential
Promotes provider support for diagnostic and E&M coding accuracy, adherence with compliance plan, attainment of productivity targets, and claims preparation for third party reimbursement
Establish, strengthen and maintain relationships with multiple agencies, departments, stakeholders and community organizations
Protect client and agency information at all times, adhering to agency Confidentiality Policy and HIPAA as well as other laws governing privacy/disclosure
Participate in clinical supervision as scheduled, attend departmental meetings as scheduled and attend monthly General Staff Meetings
Assures consistency of organizational mission with demonstrated needs/expectations of medically underserved LGBTQIA+ community
Commits professional time to community services activities on behalf of Mazzoni Center
Serves as participant in any planned fundraising activities
Perform other related duties as required
Education, Training, License and Certification, Skills and Experience:
Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited institution with a focus/major in psychology, social work or counseling
Professional clinical license active in PA (LCSW, LPC, PhD or PsyD or LMFT required).
5 to 10 years post-graduate experience in program administration and clinical supervision
Significant demonstrated knowledge of mental health and substance abuse treatment
Clinical supervision experience and training preferred.
Must be culturally competent to work with groups from diverse racial, educational, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientation and gender presentations, and youth/adolescents.
Knowledge of and experience with managed care/funding sources required.
Strong oral and written communication skills; attention to detail. Strong organizational skills; and computer proficiency.
Must complete mandatory trainings: CPR, First Aid, Narcan, HIV, Confidentiality, TB/STI.
Ability to work independently and effectively, taking initiative, to meet deadlines.
Must work well with multi-disciplinary team.

Background checks are required, including Criminal Background Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Clearance.

Exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Must have all necessary vaccinations and tuberculosis screening and Hepatitis B immunity screen in accordance with applicable Mazzoni Center policies.
