How you make a difference As an Actuary Director, you will lead the development of intricate actuarial models focused on medical claims, risk adjustment, and population health management. Employing advanced expertise in mathematics, statistics, and financial principles, you will meticulously evaluate data to forecast the financial implications of forthcoming events. Your role will extend beyond data analysis as you provide strategic leadership insights and proposals, aiming to steer decision-making towards minimizing risk exposure and fortifying financial stability within the organization.
Key Responsibilities Develop and interpret intricate financial models encompassing medical claims, population health management, and risk adjustment. Provide expert insights to executive leadership, supporting reserving, planning, forecasting, rate-setting, and reporting processes.
Utilize SQL programming, Excel, Tableau, and other actuarial tools to gather, organize, and analyze information. Demonstrate mastery in applying financial principles, analytical skills, and interpersonal communication to support completed analyses, including ownership of data integrity policy and procedures.
Create reports for Private Equity Committees and Internal Executive Leadership Team, effectively conveying complex subjects to non-specialized personnel. Generate charts, tables, and comprehensive reports illustrating calculations and recommendations for product pricing, valuation, or risk management.
Assess potential risks and uncertainties, utilizing historical data and trend analysis to gauge likelihood and magnitude. Develop and evaluate strategies for risk mitigation and profit optimization while ensuring adherence to industry standards and government regulations, fostering compliance throughout the organization.
Oversee the Origami Database, maintaining overall accuracy and tying it to 3rd party actuarial reports. Evaluate sufficiency of 3rd party actuarial reports, maintain relationships with relevant parties, and effectively communicate intricate discoveries and proposals to stakeholders, executives, and clients, promoting clarity and understanding of actuarial insights.
Qualifications & Requirements Education
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 5-7 years of Health actuarial experience including 2-3 years post-fellowship, or related experience.
Licenses/Certifications
Fellow-level designation from Society of Actuaries (or equivalent) preferred; Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) with requisite experience considered.
