The senior accountant will oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. This role combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has experience collaborating and/or managing a team of accountants.
Key Responsibilities
Maintaining monthly general ledger entries and facilitating monthly close schedules
Monitoring bank balances via an online interface; recording activity to the general ledger daily
Preparing accurate and timely monthly account reconciliations, financial statements, and analysis
Communicating with external auditors and assisting with all audit schedules and reports
Preparing accurate and timely internal and external reports
Initiating process improvements in applicable accounting functions
Documenting, analyzing, and communicating monthly transactional details
Maintain, monitoring, and documenting strong internal controls
Cross-training in various other accounting functions
Core Strengths and Skills
Bachelors degree or higher in accounting or finance
3-5 years accounting/finance experience (CPA license and public accounting experience preferred)
Strong understanding of accounting theory, GAAP, and a willingness to research and resolve accounting issues
Experience with medium to large ERP and accounting systems (Great Plains a plus)
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables
Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
Ability to work and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external parties
