As the Director of Financial Planning, you will be charged with leading the Financial Planning department. Duties include department oversight, management and training of 2-5 financial planners. This is a player-coach role, whereby you will be asked to spend a considerable amount of time doing financial planning work, including writing comprehensive financial plans, performing financial modeling and reviewing estate plans for our clients. You may be asked to attend and present in client meetings. The firm’s goal is to build a sophisticated financial planning division to support our advisory team in delivering intelligent financial planning solutions and a best-in-class service offering to our clients.
Responsibilities
Coach, manage, and lead the Financial Planning team on a day-to-day basis to ensure quality of work and consistency.
Serve as an internal resource to the firm's Financial Planners and Advisors.
Work collaboratively with the advisory team on ensuring we are offering our clients a holistic wealth management experience.
Design and monitor financial planning progress for the firm's client base.
Build a process for continuous improvement and learning for the advisory team.
Oversee training and career-path development and performance criteria within the Financial Planning department.
Oversee technology tools, development, and implementation to drive better client engagement, service excellence, impact, value, and efficiency within the department.
Work with the Operations team to develop and integrate workflows within the department to achieve greater efficiency and quality of care for clients as well as integration across the organization.
Work with the Investment team to ensure the planning materials, forecasts, and reporting align with capital market assumptions.
Oversee the firm’s relationships with outside professional advisors, external resource providers, partners & vendors that support the Financial Planning department.
Ensure Salesforce (CRM) is optimized to support the advisory team’s work and that the Planners and Advisors are trained and utilizing the CRM to manage workflow, client service, business development and task management.
Design and update financial plans using eMoney financial planning software.
Develop retirement projections, income tax projections and estimates, and estate plans with subsequent recommendations.
Participate and present as a subject matter expert in client meetings.
Special projects as needed to enhance financial planning delivery and consistency.
Qualifications
5+ years of financial planning experience, preferably working with HNW and UHNW clients.
Prior Management experience is desirable.
Bachelor’s degree, ideally in business, accounting, finance, mathematics and/or economics.
Certified Financial Planner certification required; CPA and/or JD desirable.
A passion for financial planning.
Proven technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Highly proactive; must have strong work ethic.
Extreme attention to detail.
