12 months of progressive experience as a technician on highway construction projects or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
Shall possess a valid Georgia Driver's license.
Technical Requirements:
Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions including geometry and trigonometry.
Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in roadway and vertical construction.
Ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
Ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
Ability to take notes and prepare and review reports.
General drafting skill and skill in the use of office equipment such as computers and calculators.

Job Summary:
This is general to entry level technical work supporting higher level inspectors and engineers in construction inspection of vertical or linear construction projects. Work usually involves a significant amount of decision making and use of judgment and may include providing work directions to others.
Construction Inspector Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Independent complex inspections of roadways and/or structures and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract.
Moderately complex inspections; or supervise other inspectors conducting routine and standardized inspections. Work may include inspecting asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment and compaction; roadways and bridge structures and/or vertical structures for conformance to plans, and specifications; structural materials and members; placement of culverts; structural operations such as foundation excavation; placement of piling, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete and backfill; and traffic control and erosion control devices.
Contract documentation duties, which includes field measurements of pay items as well as other required documentation.
Complex variety of calculations and computations.
Participate in Concept Meetings, Field Plan Reviews (Preliminary and/or Final), CPM schedule reviews, project close-out, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
