From a single location with two employees in San Antonio, Texas, VP has grown to over 300 employees with five company-owned and operated race fuel distribution points in Texas, Indiana, Delaware, and Tennessee, a regional office in southern California, and an international office in Berlin. Position Overview
The Regulatory Compliance Specialist/Manager will oversee all aspects of VP Racing’s product compliance initiatives. This role ensures that all products are compliant with relevant safety standards, possess accurate safety data sheets (SDS), and have labels adhering to the regulations of all destination countries. The specialist will have a comprehensive understanding of both domestic and international regulatory environments and will proactively address and adapt to compliance changes.
Key Responsibilities
SDS, Label, and Spec Sheet Management: Collaborate with the legal department, Director of R&D, marketing, sales, and operations to coordinate the preparation and updating of SDSs, labels, spec sheets, and other product materials ensuring they adhere to all international, federal, state, and regional regulations.
Regulatory Monitoring and Compliance: Stay updated with changes in both domestic and international compliance requirements, which include, but are not limited to, OSHA, TCEQ, EPA, DHS security plan, REACH, GHS, CPSC, SWPP, and SPCC. Ensure regular inspections and appropriate record-keeping.
Product Compliance: Partner with the product development, R&D, purchasing, and marketing teams to ascertain the compliance of both new and existing products.
Training: Lead the education of internal teams on compliance standards and ensure the continuous adaptation of best practices.
Reporting and Audits: Regularly report on compliance status, highlighting potential risks and providing solutions. Serve as the primary representative during audits and inspections, ensuring that action items are addressed.
Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with external stakeholders, including partners creating private label products, regulators, and customers, to navigate compliance-related inquiries and challenges.
Shipping Compliance: Collaborate with the International and Shipping departments to guarantee that products adhere to all destination country regulations.
Strategic Planning: Join forces with senior management to strategize on entering new markets and product categories, ensuring all compliance criteria are addressed.
Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement enhancements to refine internal compliance procedures.
Team Coordination: Oversee, back up, and train in tandem with the Regulatory and Compliance Lead. Participate in company meetings and perform other related duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in law, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Industry certifications or relevant on-the-job experience is acceptable.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years in regulatory compliance, preferably in the chemical or fuel sector.
Skills: Exceptional organizational, strong writing, and communication abilities. Proficient in MS Office Suite, with the ability to handle sensitive data, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
Personal Qualities: Detail-oriented, cross-functional team player, with excellent interpersonal skills. Must pass criminal background checks and drug tests.
Working Conditions
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, kneeling, stooping, and bending for up to 8 hours. May occasionally work outdoors and might be required to work beyond regular working hours.
