Job Summary
Under general supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Lead isthe subject matter expert for the assigned specialty area and performsadvanced technical tasks within the pharmacy department. Demonstrates theability to competently work in general and specialty areas of pharmacypractice. Works with pharmacy leadership to develop competencies and standardwork within the designated area of expertise.
Essential Functions:
Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, peers, nurses, and providers toimprove patient outcomes and quality metrics in specialized areas of pharmacypractice (10%)Participates in the training, competency development, and continuousproficiency of employees in specialized areas of pharmacy practice (10%)Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist(10%)Complies with established departmental and DHHA policies and procedures,code of conduct, quality improvement, infection control, and safetyinitiatives (10%)Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care (10%)Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technicianscope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed (10%)Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information (10%)Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legalrequirements (10%)Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately (10%)Attends and participates in departmental meetings, in-services, huddles,and departmental trainings as applicable (10%)Education:
Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program RequiredWork Experience:
1-3 years Three (3) year of pharmacy technician experience RequiredLicenses:
PTCBCPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - BPS - Board of Pharmacy SpecialtiesRequiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work as a team memberAttention to detailKnowledge of basic and advanced pharmacy practices and proceduresProject management and process improvement skillsMathematical computation skillsOrganization and communication skillsGood typing, keyboarding and proofreading skillsAbility to work independently within pharmacy scope of practiceKnowledge of prescription processing and third-party billing, if applicableProficiency with Microsoft Office, preferredProficiency with Epic, preferred
