Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Inspector to join our team. The Construction Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities comply with building codes, regulations, and project specifications, with a particular focus on testing concrete and soil for rail, bridge, steel rebar, and other infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety standards, particularly in working with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).

Responsibilities:

Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to assess progress and quality of work.

Verify compliance with building codes, zoning laws, and other regulatory requirements.

Perform testing of concrete, soil, rail, bridge components, steel rebar, and other materials according to industry standards and project specifications.

Document inspection findings, including test results, deficiencies, and violations, through written reports, photographs, and sketches.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to address issues and ensure compliance.

Oversee quality control measures to ensure materials and workmanship meet required standards.

Conduct safety inspections to identify and mitigate hazards on construction sites.

Coordinate and conduct final inspections to ensure completion and compliance before occupancy permits are issued.

Stay updated on changes to building codes, regulations, and industry best practices, particularly those relevant to transportation infrastructure projects and the MBTA.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field (preferred).

Proven experience as a construction inspector or similar role, with specific experience in testing concrete, soil, and materials for transportation infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.

Certification from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) as a Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I.

Certification from the Northeast Transportation Training and Certification Program (NETTCP) or equivalent certification.

Proficiency in using inspection tools and technology.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various construction sites.

Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
