Job Description
Ensure the quality and excellence of all pulmonary services provided for the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta system. Work with administrative and medical leaders to provide oversight of pulmonary services (respiratory therapy, apnea, pulmonary diagnostics) within the hospital and outpatient clinics. Provides the clinical expertise and strong business acumen necessary to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of pulmonary services across the organization. This position serves as the administrative leader for Pulmonary Services and in collaboration with the medical leadership has the responsibility to ensure the highest level of respiratory service delivery for all of our patients and families.
Experience
7+ years in clinical and business operations experience
Experience in service-related areas focusing on quality improvement and service excellence
5 years of experience in a departmental management capacity
Experience in marketing new ventures
Expertise in establishing effective working relationships/partnerships with physicians
Experience in building strong and effective leadership teams
Preferred Qualifications
MBA
Experience in a pediatrics environment
Pulmonary operations experience
Education
Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university

Job Responsibilities
Develops and executes strategic plan for Pulmonary Services across the system.
Collaborates with medical staff and various levels of hospital personnel to implement and provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care by participating in the development, planning, marketing, implementation, and evaluation of new programs and services across the system to ensure services meet quality and customer service standards.
Develops and manages the departmental budget(s) within established fiscal guidelines by analyzing costs of services provided and new services needed and facilitates the monthly analysis of budget performance against established goals by monitoring and evaluating expenses and making adjustments as necessary to ensure financial profitability.
Provides leadership and mentoring services that enable unit-based leaders to promote key retention activities that ensure adequate and efficient staffing by evaluating performance, establishing career building programs, and providing on-going training services for staff.
Organizes, directs, and participates in compilation and fiscal analysis to support strategic planning initiatives and operational decision making by balancing data and statistics against established monetary resources.
Directs the clinical and/or technical components and outcomes of the various functional areas within scope of responsibility and ensures regulatory compliance and standards consistency throughout the system.
Develops strategies that promote customer satisfaction and serve as an opportunity to create positive outcomes with customers by evaluating provided services to ensure services meet customer needs and exploring options to implement new services if necessary.
Develops and oversees departmental and employee performance improvement plan(s) which promote the highest quality of care. Develops corrective action measures and implements as necessary.
Works collaboratively with leadership team and point-of-service providers to ensure they serve as advisors and support the infrastructure for shared decision making at the unit and system level.
Accountable for driving effective and safe admission, transfer and discharge process for division and hospital, ensuring efficient patient flow and outcomes through collaboration with physicians, other departments, system leadership, and staff. Removes barriers and identifies patterns for improvement.
