Description of Primary Duties
The Architectural Graphic Support Intern assists with the development of presentations, including creating graphics and architectural renderings. The Architectural Graphic Support Intern assists in the maintenance of standards by working with others in the department to develop standard details and specifications that may be incorporated into projects. The Architectural Graphic Support Intern is responsible for administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, responding to departmental emails, greeting customers, updating social media platforms, updating the departmental website, and any other tasks which support the success of the department.
1. Prepares graphic presentation materials through effective use of computer-aided design programs.
2. Ensures that AutoCAD and other design software is used effectively to meet the needs of the department by maintaining graphics standards for documents created and produced by the department of Planning, Design and Construction.
3. Assists project managers by developing graphics that identify construction related disturbances for the campus community.
4. Assists project managers by participating in the review of construction documents.
5. Assists project managers in producing detailed drawings that include building dimensions, required materials, and construction procedures.
6. Assists the department by assembling construction documents prior to the issuance of the final construction documents and sending out electronic notifications related to projects.
7. Conducts site visits to verify room use, layout and square footage information.
8. Assists the department by answering departmental phones, responding to departmental email, greeting customers, updating webpages and social media platforms and managing other routine administrative tasks.
9. Contributes to the overall success of Planning, Design and Construction by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education: Enrolled at Missouri State University as a full-time undergraduate student.
Experience: Must have proven experience in using AutoCAD, Adobe, Microsoft Office 365 and have effective verbal and written communication skills. Experience in using Revit is preferred.
Skills: The ability to proficiently manipulate graphics software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite or similar programs to achieve desired results is required. The ability to prepare renderings and graphics in various forms of media in order to adequately convey the concepts of projects or prepare representations of expected final constructed results is required. The ability to effectively use PowerPoint, spreadsheets, word processing, and similar computing systems is required. Excellent verbal and written communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to initiate and follow through with work responsibilities and to meet deadlines with minimum supervision is required. Must be a quick learner, self-starter, highly motivated and able to maintain a high-performance standard. The position requires a high level of accuracy and close attention to details.

Effort: The position is primarily sedentary; however, walking and/or standing for extended periods of time may be required. The position may require the ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, to reach heights up to 8 feet by using ladders or step stools, and to reach materials or equipment stored on lower shelves or in lower cabinets or desk drawers. This position requires extensive keyboarding. The scope of the job may occasionally require working in the evenings and on weekends.
