Angelus Block is currently seeking to hire a full-time Environmental Health and Safety Manager. This position will be based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Sun Valley, California.
Under the direction of the President, this position is responsible for the environmental laws, programs, and completion of site characterizations at each facility. This position works with government regulated agencies and counsel along with inter-company personnel at all levels to meet the requirements set forth by the agencies. This position will provide technical safety and health support to production and office personnel. This position will develop corporate safety and health programs as well as coordinate safety training programs. This position will monitor safety and health regulation and provide technical support to production and office personnel, and ensure that the company is in compliance with Federal and State safety and health regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain, administer, and enforce company-wide safety policies and procedures
Ensure company compliance with federal and state safety and environmental regulations
Provide technical safety and health support to production and office personnel
Maintain corporate safety and health programs, and assess and recommend areas of improvement
Coordinate with Human Resources on worker’s compensation and return to work issues
Serve as the primary contact with all federal and state environmental agencies
Coordinate and facilitate regulatory inspections
Conduct hazard assessments and develop recommendations
Liaise with legal counsel where appropriate
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
5 plus years of related field experience with progressive responsibilities preferred
Ability to drive to and from several Southern California company locations
Strong knowledge of health and safety best practices and legal requirements
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the workforce and management
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work to a timeline and meet deadlines
Ability to deal with regulatory agencies, advisors, and other outside parties
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
Strong computer skills (MS Office / Outlook)
Ability to work under pressure and make strong decisions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Bilingual a plus, but not necessary
Prior experience with most of the following preferred:
o CALOSHA
o CARB
o SCAQMD
o EPA
o Fire Departments
o Regional Water Quality
