Accounts Payable Accountant

The Accounts Payable Accountant is needed within the Accounts Payable team to support the Operations Accounting Department. This individual will be responsible for learning the invoice processing system, communicating with various internal departments and external vendors to ensure invoices are processed accurately and paid on a timely basis. This role reports to the Accounting Supervisor and is located in Downtown Houston, TX. Level and salary is commensurate with background and experience.
Essential Job Functions
Process invoices for appropriate account coding
Respond to vendor-related inquiries
Assist in resolving issues related to invoicing approval and payment
Prepare and submit vendor setup/maintenance requests
Prepare journal entries related to accounts payable
Analyze vendor spend, invoice count, or invoice coding trends
Participate in special projects, as needed

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, accounting degree preferred
Ability to develop strong working relationships and communicate effectively across the organization
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
Detail oriented and able to meet deadlines
MS Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications
One (1) - Two (2) years of Accounts Payable experience
Customer service experience
Oil and gas industry experience
Enertia software experience
OpenInvoice software experience
