Data Engineer
As a Data Engineer at Bouldering Project, you will be responsible for building out a data warehouse from the ground up using a modern data stack. You will drive a culture of data-driven decision making by developing tools that allow local managers and other business leaders to self-serve key performance metrics and reporting. As the expert on all BP data, you will work closely with our Finance, Accounting, Marketing, and Growth teams to ask and answer complex questions about our business. What You’ll Do
- Assist in the creation of a modern data warehouse and design ELT workflows
- Bring together transactional data from many various sources, ensuring data integrity and accuracy; you will maintain a data dictionary and ensure that stakeholders are well aligned on definitions for commonly used metrics and terms.
- Create insightful, easy-to-understand data visualizations and reports to communicate findings to management and stakeholders.
- Analyze and interpret data to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Serve as an expert on all Bouldering Project data and consult for local managers to identify and gather relevant datasets to answer business questions and evaluate trends.
- Work with local managers and other stakeholders to define data collection and reporting requirements.
What You’ll Bring
- A bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related STEM field
- 2-5+ years of relevant experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist or Software Engineer with a focus on data products
- Proficiency in data manipulation, cleaning, and visualization
- Experience using data manipulation tools, including Python and SQL as a minimum
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes. Plus if existing Keboola, Snowflake and/or dbt experience.
- Experience with data visualization tools. Plus if existing Amazon Quicksight experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with messy datasets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex data findings effectively.
Working Conditions
- Duties require availability to work on a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Some travel will be required; no greater than 1 week per quarter
