Senior UX Designer

Austin, TX, United States

Gartner Digital Markets is a business unit within Gartner. Our mission is to empower organizations to accelerate growth by helping them embrace the right technology and services.

Gartner Digital Markets is the world’s largest platform for finding software and services. With more than 100 million annual visitors across four buyer destinations—Capterra, GetApp, Software Advice, and UpCity—and 70 localized sites, Gartner Digital Markets helps software and service providers build their brand, capture demand, and understand their market. As the only destination for software and services driven by independent, objective research and verified customer reviews, we help connect providers with in-market buyers to fuel growth across the full funnel.

For candidates interested in taking their next career step, Gartner Digital Markets offers the best of two worlds—the stability and resources of a large, established organization combined with the fast pace and excitement of working for a dynamic growth business. Our team is on the front lines of innovation in an industry that is always transforming, providing an incredible opportunity for you to grow and learn throughout your career.

What we’re looking for:

Our ideal candidate is a senior UX designer who can work independently on a distributed and virtual first team. This role is part of a small design team made up of UX design, UI design, and a design manager. We support several products across a large business unit in Gartner Digital Markets. You would manage UX for a portfolio of products and features and coordinate with a product trio of Product Managers and Engineering counterparts. As part of that you aren’t getting pre-defined work but will actively work with Product Managers to make sure projects are solving the right problems and are the right priorities to move forward for users and the business.

What you’ll do:

You will lead UX for your own portfolio of products and product features. As the lead you will be able to:

lead design thinking and ideation sessions to constantly improve the products and user experience

conduct user research to help advocate for our users’ needs

present back to Product, Engineering, and leadership stakeholders about UX findings and design decisions as part of regular knowledge sharing sessions

You are part of a small design team which means you always have access to the other members to collaborate and think through design challenges.

We value your professional development. The design team is encouraged to attend conferences or similar virtual events, they are given room to explore improving our design processes, can lead design talks, and have dedicated time during our work hours for these activities.

You will be part of a larger design network in Gartner Digital Markets of 20+ colleagues in UX design, UI design, UX research, and Design Ops. There are plenty of opportunities to get exposure to other design skillsets to help expand your career development.

We value our work-life balance. You will have enough work to keep you engaged, help you grow, and keep launching feature updates. You also should be able to manage your projects so you don’t have to work late and so that you can enjoy your paid time off.

A hybrid work environment—enjoy the flexibility of working from home and the energy of collaborating with peers in our dynamic offices when needed.

What you'll bring to the team:

5+ years of UX experience.

Experience with Figma, Balsamiq, and Miro or similar tools.

Solid understanding of user-centered design processes and ability to balance user needs with business goals in developing solutions.

Experience with UX Research, using UX Research findings to guide design, and explaining research outcomes to stakeholders when presenting design decisions. The UX team is expected to lead some research projects such as generative interviews and prototype testing with our users. If you don’t have experience running UX Research we will provide training and the support to build up that skillset.

Ability to work closely with product managers and engineers, writing UX specifications for engineering teams, and familiarity with agile sprint cycles.

Ability to work effectively both remotely and asynchronously with team members who might be in different time zones. Our design team is currently distributed across our Arlington, US and Barcelona, Spain offices.

Don’t meet every single requirement? We encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right candidate for this, or other roles.
