NOC Engineer

Job Description Job Description Responsibilities:

Network Monitoring and Maintenance:

Monitor network performance, availability, and security using monitoring tools and systems.

Respond to alerts and notifications promptly to investigate and resolve issues.

Perform routine network maintenance tasks, including software updates, configuration changes, and patch management.

Incident Management:

Troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents, outages, and service disruptions.

Document incident details, actions taken, and resolutions in the incident management system.

Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support teams or vendors as necessary.

Change Management:

Implement approved changes to the network infrastructure following change management processes and procedures.

Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders to schedule and execute planned changes with minimal disruption to operations.

Performance Optimization:

Analyze network performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.

Recommend and implement optimization strategies to enhance network performance, reliability, and scalability.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and maintenance activities for management review.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.

Proven experience as a NOC Engineer or similar role in a network operations environment.

Strong understanding of network protocols, technologies, and best practices.

Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, Wireshark).

Experience with incident management and change management processes.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position based in San Diego.

Flexibility to work in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of the NOC team's coverage schedule.
