SUMMARY
Worldwide Mission Critical is actively growing our technical staff across the country and seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Project Manager for our Pre-Construction group. The selected candidate will oversee design and technical systems development for large, complex data center projects from concept development to construction administration both domestically and overseas. While a Mechanical Engineering background is the baseline, the successful candidates responsibilities will encompass multi-disciplinary oversight including the full scope of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Telecommunications, Civil, Structural and Architectural efforts. You will be supported and mentored by other Pre-Construction and Construction Managers within WWMC, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to grow professionally, technically, and within the Company.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the development of high-level concepts for M&E system topologies and capacities for execution by a design team
Visit, assess, and summarize M&E system topologies and capacities at existing facilities as part of due diligence efforts
Review design submission documents along with submittals for consistency with the project objectives and requirements
Act as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders, providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring alignment with project goals
Lead recurring project meetings, ensuring effective communication and documentation of discussions, decisions, and action items
Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets
Identify and escalate project risks and issues, proactively addressing challenges during the project lifecycle
Collaborate with clients, project managers, and team members to streamline workflows, optimize resource allocation, and drive project success
Prepare Design Team RFP/Bid/Selection documents and guide the preparation of Basis of Design (BOD) documents
Provide Design Management from Concept Development through Construction Documents, including overseeing the construction budget and schedule
Prepare General Contractor RFP/Bid/Selection documents and Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) Equipment Procurement documents
Guide coordination with local Utilities and manage permit applications and timelines
Participate in job site observations and offer commentary on work in progress
Identify opportunities to improve quality of services and deliverables and participate in implementation
Participate in in-house training and industry-focused professional organizations
Maintain relevant Code knowledge along with product technologies and topologies
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with mechanical building systems emphasis
Experience with the analysis and modeling of interior and exterior Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling
Revit BIM design experience
Familiarity with sustainable design approaches and related project impacts
Minimum 5 years' experience in A/E industry preferred, with Mission Critical/Data Center experience
Comprehensive understanding of professional services from conceptual design through project close-out
Passion for improving workflows and mentoring team members
Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to motivate and mentor staff
Proficient with Microsoft Productivity Suite products
