Description

The South Bay Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (SBWIB, Inc.) is seeking a collaborative professional with strong project management, strategy development, and stakeholder engagement skills to join an innovative team dedicated to the alignment and transformation of public systems to achieve education and workforce equity. As a subregional convener for the K-16 Collaborative, SBWIB, Inc. is supporting the overall effort in L.A. County that will coalesce leaders across K-12 districts, and two- and four-year colleges to streamline and accelerate education to career pathways. This position will play a critical role in supporting our local area in the successful development of the L.A. Region K-16 Collaborative, a multi-year collective impact effort that aims to close racial and gender gaps in postsecondary enrollment and attainment and employment in L.A. County, starting with a focus on building equitable pathways to healthcare, engineering and computer science careers. This is a grant-supported position funded through August 31, 2026, with an opportunity for extension.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Special Projects (SPD) Manager or designee, the Senior Special Projects Coordinator - Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing various projects as well as organizing the various tasks involved in completing the projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Key Goals and Objectives of the overall K-16 Collaborative are:

Increase postsecondary enrollment, degree completion in health care, computing, and engineering, and the percentage of students employed in their field of study, while eliminating racial disparities.

Enhance and expand dual enrollment, articulated transfer, and work-based learning opportunities, strengthening K-12, community college, and college/university matriculation.

Develop and support regional and subregional collaboration to strengthen problem-solving capacity.

K-16 Stakeholder Communication & Engagement:

Develop positive working relationships with the primary subregional partnerships and other K-16 stakeholders, including college/university faculty and administrative leaders, K-12 leaders, employers, and community partners to build the profile of the subregion and overall L.A. Region K-16 Collaborative and support its advancement.

Facilitate and/or represent the subregional collaborative in small and large group meetings, trainings, and/or strategic planning sessions for partners, funders, and other stakeholders.

Career Pathway and Asset Mapping

Lead the creation of subregional asset mapping which will provide students with career pathway roadmaps through K12 to 2 & 4 Year Colleges to the Labor Force.

Work with subregional educators and partners to identify existing maps or create new ones and combine them into one continuous pathway.

Utilize current research and best practices related to postsecondary access and completion to inform continuous improvement of the design, delivery, and evaluation of pathway strategies across subregional efforts.

Project & Grant Management

Develop and manage timelines, workflow, communications, production of deliverables, and other aspects of project implementation to continuously advance multiple strategies and activities funded through the subregional collaborative.

Assist with the creation of subcontract agreements, processing of invoices, and data collection efforts with subregional partners.

Track and manage partner relationships, interactions, and potential fundraising opportunities that relate to the K-16 Collaborative subregion.

Coordinate with subregional partners, SBWIB fiscal team, and K16 Collaborative funder to submit grant narrative and financial reports.

Convening

Lead the subregion in planning and facilitating meetings including scheduling, partner correspondence, agenda development, meeting minutes, co-facilitation, and driving action in between meetings.

Other

Other Special Projects and assignments as needed.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, education, higher education, and/or macro social work, or another related field. Advanced Degree preferred.

Five (5) years of professional experience supporting college and career pathways in partnership with K-12, postsecondary education and/or workforce systems, or experience in education or workforce development for communities facing high education and labor market barriers; Or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the below duties (education may be substituted by experience on a year-for-year basis).

Strong project manager with experience supporting complex projects, setting overall project goals, developing work plans, and overseeing detail-oriented implementation.

Enjoys working to understand the root causes of complex problems and developing innovative solutions.

Has experience building positive relationships and collaborates effectively on diverse teams, including those comprised of direct teammates, colleagues from other departments with no formal reporting structure, contractors, and a diverse array of external stakeholders.

Is comfortable designing and leading effective and inclusive meetings, convenings, and other engagements that will advance project objectives and build stakeholder relationships.

Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex issues in clear and actionable ways.

Must be an intellectually curious learner, willing to take in new information and perspectives to inform and adapt work, and must demonstrate a growth mindset and a desire to continuously improve.

Enjoys jumping into new projects and knows how to build subject matter expertise and credibility quickly.

Must have experience working with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and be well-versed in conducting and utilizing ZOOM, Teams, and other virtual meeting platforms.

Must be able to successfully pass background and reference clearances and follow all safety protocols enforced by the Company and as listed under the below working conditions.

Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position (40 hours/week), generally with a starting wage commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $38.38 - $40.11 per hour. Our Company offers a comprehensive employee benefits package, which includes 75% health cost coverage (for employees only), sick and vacation leave, holidays, and a competitive 401k plan. The employer is eligible for student loan forgiveness (PSLF) . All full-time employees are invited to participate in the company's health benefits package after completing the 60-90-day employment introductory period.
