Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Masters-Level Mental Health Intern to join our mental health team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a clinical setting while working under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals. You will work with a diverse range of clients, assisting them in addressing their mental health concerns and improving their overall well-being.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct intake assessments and assist in the formulation of treatment plans for clients.
2. Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
3. Collaborate with licensed mental health professionals to develop and implement appropriate treatment interventions.
4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including progress notes and treatment plans.
5. Participate in case conferences and team meetings to discuss client progress and treatment strategies.
6. Assist in crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed.
7. Conduct research and literature reviews to inform evidence-based practice.
8. Stay current with developments in the field of mental health counseling through ongoing training and professional development activities.
9. Adhere to ethical guidelines and legal standards in all aspects of client care.
10. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for clients from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications:
1. Enrolled in a Master's degree program in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
2. Completion of coursework in counseling theories, assessment, and treatment modalities.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients and work effectively within a team.
4. Empathy and compassion for individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
5. Knowledge of ethical guidelines and legal standards governing mental health counseling.
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
7. Proficient in using electronic health record systems and other relevant software.
8. Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity to issues of diversity and inclusion.
9. Willingness to receive supervision and feedback from licensed mental health professionals.
10. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
