Job Description Job Description Position Overview:
We are a well-established small family law practice seeking a motivated and compassionate Associate Attorney to join our close-knit team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling 40-50 cases simultaneously. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong professional values and a genuine passion for assisting individuals navigating the complexities of the family court system.
This is a hybrid position with the ability to work remotely a few days a week depending on attorney trial schedule. Applicant must reside in Arizona to attend court appearances in Maricopa County.
Responsibilities/Requirements:
1. Case Management:
• Handle a caseload of 40-50 family law cases, including but not limited to dissolution of marriage, child custody establishment/modifications, child support and spousal maintenance.
• Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, provide legal advice to clients and attend all court hearings
• Potential client consultations
2. Client Advocacy:
• Advocate effectively for clients while maintaining a compassionate approach, understanding the emotional challenges they may be facing.
• Demonstrate the ability to balance client advocacy with a broader understanding of the client's best interests and long-term goals.
3. Evaluative Approach:
• Utilize an evaluative approach to assess each case, understanding the nuances and complexities involved to help clients determine the best course of action.
4. Communication Skills:
• Maintain proactive and transparent communication with clients, keeping them informed about case developments and managing expectations effectively.
• Collaborate with the legal team to ensure cohesive and efficient communication both internally and externally.
Requirements:
• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to practice in the state of Arizona.
• A minimum of one (1) year of family law experience is preferred. Those with litigation experience in other areas of law and/or any other relevant background may be considered depending on resume.
• Strong professional values and a commitment to ethical legal practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a high caseload with attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Compassionate approach to understanding and addressing the needs of clients in challenging family situations.
• Demonstrated ability to see the big picture and make decisions in the best interest of the client.
