Position/Job Summary : The Assistant Program Director provides support to the Program Director in overseeing the needs of the program are met. The position ensures that all clients are cared for, supervised and treated in a safe, secure, respectful and therapeutic manner. The Assistant Program Director may substitute for the Program Director during period of leave, and s erves as secondary liaison with ORR. Position/Job Duties and Responsibilities: Substitutes for the Program Director during a period of leave, and serves as secondary liaison with ORR.

Works with Program Director to assure that all ORR required services are provided.

Directly supervises Milieu Supervisors, Medical Coordinators, Skills Trainers and others, as assigned.

Creates Milieu staffing schedule that ensures program is sufficiently staffed for safety and supervision of youth throughout all shifts.

Ensures that staff are hired, trained and onboarded.

Participates in Case Staffings and problem solves cases with a multi-disciplinary team.

Supports staff in working with youth with challenging behaviors.

Reviews all incident reports and shift summaries, as well as submitting critical incident reports to ORR.

Develops and proposes program policies and procedures to Program Director.

Develops and supports daily milieu schedule for youth, including activities and outing planning.

Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps and motivates top quality people—both professional and volunteer.

Maintain an available presence as a program resource in day-to-day operations

Adheres to State Licensing requirements.

Other duties as assigned

Participate in the practice and continuing implementation of the Sanctuary Model. (All positions)

Competencies : Medication Administration

Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention and Intervention (including screening, risk assessment, stabilization, collaborative safety planning, and treatment).

Response to Youth Emergencies (including knowledge of response policies and procedures, self-awareness during crisis situations, CPR/First Aid, medical emergencies).

Response to Mental Health Crisis

Child Abuse Reporting, Follow-up, and Intervention

Crisis De-escalation and Physical Restraint Techniques (Evidence-based Practices).

Able to provide culturally-appropriate care

Able to hold each other and yourself accountable to the diversity and uniqueness of all individuals within Morrison, our clients and our community stakeholders (All positions) .

Required Position Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, sociology or other relevant behavioral science plus 5 years of progressive employment experience with a social services or childcare agency or organization

1 year supervising a team of individuals, participating in a leadership role or management role.

Attained age 21 years or older before first day of employment in position (ORR)

Demonstrate a commitment to developing a thorough knowledge and application of the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies & practices.

Participate in staff development, in-services, and training related to equity and inclusion in the workplace; model appropriate behaviors; develop, recommend, and implement improvements to business practices with awareness and understanding of the impact in a trauma-informed and culturally diverse organization.

Preferred Position Qualifications : Bi-lingual in Spanish and English, written, read and verbal strongly preferred.

ORR experience

Residential experience

Knowledge of Federal, State and agency regulations.

Knowledge of adolescent developmental issues, trauma, abuse and neglect, substance abuse and dependence, delinquency, peer influence, and related group and individual interventions.

Other Requirements: Able to work shift hours and days, as assigned. Position may require work outside of usual work hours on occasion.

Able to pass a comprehensive criminal history background investigation.

Hold a valid drivers’ license and if driving a personal vehicle, must maintain minimum auto insurance policy.

Current CPR and Standard First Aid required.

40 hours of required training per year

Physical demands and work environment: ·Ability to perform physical restraints of clients up to 200 pounds. ·Visual acuity allowing for analysis of written data. ·Ability to provide visual and auditory supervision of youth outdoors and indoors during activity. ·Manual dexterity allowing for operation of routine office equipment (computers, telephone, fax, copy machine, typewriter, calculator, etc.) ·Physical dexterity allowing for reaching, stooping, and repetitive motion of wrist, hand or fingers. ·Ability to remain calm and emotionally available in an environment serving youth who have experienced trauma.
