Responsibilities
Perform as a senior professional and as a lead designer.
•Develop detailed design documents (structural steel & concrete) and specifications for major and complex structures, systems and equipment.
•Ability to provide solutions/options to complex design related issues.
•Ability to work independently on design projects as well as interface with other disciplines as needed.
•Initiate conceptual design requirements in coordination with appropriate supervisors and engineers.
•Must be available for field assignments.
•Participate in project planning and preparation of budgets and estimates.
•Work with clients to develop designs compatible with client requirements.
•Coordinate within their department and with the project group regarding their projects.
•Check and verify the discipline design on projects.
•Prepare design sketches for use by drafting personnel.
•Check vendor shop drawings and construction drawings.
•Review designs of others for compliance to client and company standards.
Qualifications
College degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of drafting and engineering technology
•10+ years of refining, petrochemical and/or chemical industry experience.
•Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Cadworx 3D and Microsoft office
•Knowledge of ACI and AISC Codes
•Knowledge and understanding of engineering/design & construction
•Ability to make good judgments and quick decisions
•Proven negotiation skills
•Strong language skills (written and oral)
•Strong math skills
•Possess strong computer skills, especially in Excel and Word
•Possess excellent organizational and time management skills
•Ability to thrive in a team working environment
•Strong interpersonal skills
