Job Summary
The Protection Software Engineer provides post sales technical field engineering, training, and support to existing customers. Utilizing knowledge of protective relay testing and protection schemes, the role provides technical expertise and/or training to Doble customers on the use of the Doble RTS software. The Protection Software Engineer supports product development input to Solutions Managers. The Protection Software Engineer may publish technical articles and participate in various technical conferences sponsored by Doble and other industry organizations. This role is based in our Tulsa, Oklahoma location reporting to the Director of RTS Software Engineering.
Essential Job Functions
Provides post sales technical support of Doble RTS software and protection hardware to potential and existing customers.
Provides support to Doble RTS customers via email, telephone, and web-based solutions.
Supports other employees within the department and other departments within the company.
Prepares test plans for various models of protection, meter, transducer, and control devices and systems for use in the Doble RTS application.
Delivers training to customers on training techniques and application of the Doble RTS application.
Can work independently with very little management oversight on daily activities.
Supports new product development and current product enhancement via incorporation of customer feedback.
Assists in providing technical expertise for Doble RTS to ensure product meets customer requirements.
Participates in conferences/trade shows and other company sponsored events including committee meetings, general sessions, user group meetings and meeting with customers.
Provides support in testing new product feature sets and software evaluation to improve overall product quality and make feature suggestions to Engineering.
Reports existing issues via established software bug-logging system and provides customer issue resolution to bug related issues with existing products.
Continuously works to upgrade skills concerning computers, software, test theory, test equipment operation, apparatus operation and training presentations, in accordance with ISO 9001 Standard Operating Procedures
Performs other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electrical, or Electronics preferred. 4 years of relevant utility industry experience in lieu of a college degree is an acceptable alternative.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
The ability to teach and relate ideas or concepts to individuals with varied levels of experience.
The ability to express ideas clearly in written, oral, and developing new media communications.
Excellent time management skills.
A professional demeanor always both with all stakeholders both internal and external to Doble.
A strong balance of product and service orientation.
Demonstrated superior skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Proven project management skills and ability to meet critical deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
Must be fluent English, both oral and written form.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):
A solid history of commitment to customer service.
Working knowledge of Doble RTS software solutions.
Hands-on experience of testing of relays and protection schemes.
Ability to test devices including simple electromechanical relays, meters, transducers, and control devices.
Previous work experience for a US company is helpful.
Familiarity with Doble Protection Suite, OMICRON Test Universe, or Megger AVTS is a plus.
Fluency in additional languages other than English.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
The aptitude to develop new skills based on previous experience.
Experience with product development process.
Familiarly with Salesforce.com.
Experience using JIRA.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Salary Pay Range Minimum $86,929.13 - Midpoint $108,661.41
