Director of Sales

Cambridge, MA, United States

Proton is looking for a Director of Sales to join our fast-growing SaaS team. Reporting directly to our CEO, the Director of Sales will be responsible for building our sales motion - identifying client needs through comprehensive research and discovery, developing impactful client materials, delivering persuasive executive-level presentations both virtually and in-person, and building our sales team. This is a role for a builder.

We're looking for a Director of Sales who has a track record of selling enterprise software in a startup environment. This is a career-defining opportunity to have a direct impact on the growth and expansion of Proton as we disrupt the $8 trillion distribution market.

We are looking to hire someone in the greater Boston area who is open to a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, located in Kendall Square).

What you’ll do:  Define our sales process by selling: sell Proton and in the process define and refine our sales motion and metrics so we can hire additional members of the sales team.

Build pipeline at in person events: attend in person events to stay close to the industry and meet prospective customers.

Iterate on messaging and materials: in partnership with marketing iterate on our messaging to improve win rates.

Work cross functionally: share learnings and insights with marketing and product so we can better serve the distribution market.

Build the sales team: hire and manage our high performing sales team.

You'll be a great fit for this role if: You’re a builder, excited about closing deals yourself while iterating on our sales process and building the team

You get stuff done by being close to the details and working hard - even without a large team

You’re curious about our customers challenges, our market, and our product

You’re a team player because you know that sales at an early stage company is a team sport - requiring collaboration with marketing, product, and more

You’re long term oriented, meaning you appreciate the value of scaling with solid unit economics and building long term relationships with our market

Competitive Salaries + Company Stock Options - you’ll be paid well and be an owner.

Unlimited PTO + 10 Company Paid Holidays

401k with Employer Contribution (US only, for now!) - we contribute up to 3% of your salary to help you prepare for retirement whether you directly contribute or not.

Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance - we cover one medical plan 100% in the USA and cover a premium plan 100% for international employees (for US- this includes a HSA!) and cover 50% for dependents on all our medical plan options.

12 Weeks Fully Paid Parental Leave - that goes for primary and secondary caregivers; even if you’re adopting or fostering!

Company Paid off-sites - time for us to be together, brainstorm, and make magic happen.

About us:  The wholesale distribution industry is ready for a revolution, and Proton is leading the charge. The world relies on distributors to sell nearly every physical product, but despite its massive contribution to the global economy, this industry has been left behind in terms of technology. Proton is changing that. By providing AI-powered CRM software, we’re breaking through the complexity of selling millions of products and making it easier for distributors to anticipate and fulfill customer needs. Our mission is to bring the distribution industry into the modern age and the results speak for themselves. Distributors using Proton see 10x ROI, faster new hire ramp-up, and happier sales teams.

In 2022, we raised a $20M Series A backed by Felicis Ventures (investors in Twitch, Shopify, Opendoor, and many others) and Battery Ventures. This year, we’re laser-focused on driving customer growth. If you’re excited about the opportunity to wear multiple hats, and continuously learn and experiment, now’s the time to join the Proton team.
