Nuclear Medicine Technologist

SUMMARY:
As an integral member of the Nuclear Medicine team, the technologist performs general Nuclear Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology and PET/CT procedures as outlined in the procedure manuals. The technologist must be capable of all digital post processing of patient data for physician interpretation; paper scanning to PACs; maintaining current knowledge of and utilizing PACS to view, manipulate and archive digital images of data in final image formation; operating, troubleshooting and ensuring equipment and instruments are performing in an effective and efficient manner; preparing written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results; and participating in educational, research, safety and quality improvement programs/activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) in Nuclear Medicine required
• CAMRT Specialty Certificate in CT Imaging is an asset
• Member of CAMRT preferred
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification
• Knowledge and experience with angio catheter insertions, IV skills and insertion
• Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
• Effective time management skills; ability to organize work and set priorities
• Proven effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively independently or as a team member
• Ability to work accurately and multi-task under stressful conditions
• Good computer skills in Word, Excel and email
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development
• Awareness of hospital emergency codes and procedures
• Knowledge of ECG setup and basic interpretation
• Familiarity with different equipment, makes and models
• Experience and exposure to teaching and student mentoring
• Excellent work performance and attendance record
