Overview
The Spotlight Senior Lead Engineer is responsible for the engineering vision and execution for Spotlight, our internal customer relationship management tool. Chick-fil-A is built on a model of locally owned restaurants with strong customer relationships, and Spotlight is the tool that allows local operators to manage those relationships through promotions, customer recovery, and analytics. Spotlights Java backend services integrate with our data lake and numerous internal production systems to power a web UI that is accessed by operators and senior restaurant team members. The Spotlight engineering lead is responsible for building strong relationships with engineering and functional peers that will enable them to build an engineering vision for Spotlight as they manage a team of seven contract engineers who are responsible for building and maintaining the product.
Chick-fil-A is a rapidly growing company with a strong focus on enabling our restaurants with digital technology. That means that the requirements for Spotlight will be dynamic and evolving, needing to support greater scale, new markets, and new tools for managing customer relationships. The engineering lead will need to focus on developing an underlying architecture that can support those changing requirements as well as motivating, guiding and empowering the team to deliver on the core architectural vision and time sensitive features.

Responsibilities
+ Build a collaborative team culture with a high degree of ownership and trust, strong communications, and a high technical bar.
+ Own solution architecture decisions for the teams product
+ Lead delivery and operations of the teams product, including both individual contributions as well as delegated tasks and support to your teams engineers. We desire our lead engineers to be both leads and engineers, spending about half of their time on leading others and half contributing engineering work themselves.
+ Partner closely with functional and business stakeholders to drive prioritization and bring engineering insights and needs to the product roadmap
+ Lead, mentor, and assess other staff engineers, exemplifying and teaching best practices, helping to solve knotty problems, reviewing code, and sharing stories
+ Interview, select, onboard, and oversee contract engineers
+ Assist in the design and delivery of products outside of your team, develop tools and processes for use outside of your team, and/or mentor other engineers or especially lead engineers outside of your team
+ Guide partner-led engineering workstreams, contributing to solution design and code reviews
+ Guide engineering team in adoption of Chick-fil-A software engineering standards
+ Identify & propose emerging software engineering technologies, methodologies and/or approaches
Note - Working in a DevOps model, this opportunity includes both building and running solutions that could require off hours support. This support is shared?among the team members to cover?weekends and weeknights.? The goal is to design for failure and, using cloud-native infrastructure patterns, automate responses to possible issues so they can be worked during normal hours.?
Minimum Qualifications
+ Experience designing complex software solutions
+ Experience mentoring and leading a team, including good interpersonal and team collaboration skills
+ Broad and deep programming experience in Java, JavaScript, Python, or other comparable languages
+ Experience with SQL and data modeling
+ Experience with source control systems like Git or Subversion
+ Experience implementing application security, software design patterns, and the SDLC
+ Proven ability to positively influence the engineering culture and practices in a professional environment
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with test-driven development, continuous integration and deployment, Scrum discipline, or comparable software development practices
+ Experience developing and delivering microservices
+ Familiarity using test-driven development frameworks or automated testing tools for mobile development
+ Deep understanding of AWS architecture
+ Experience with the native mobile application delivery
+ Familiarity with version control systems and code merging/branching; specific experience with git desirable
+ Experience working with an agile development methodology featuring sprints, points estimation, and daily standups
+ Experience in design, data collection, and data analysis
