Associate Attorney, Employment (Plaintiff Side)

About the job: We are currently in search of an experienced Associate Attorney specializing in Labor & Employment to join our expanding team in Sacramento, CA. The ideal candidate should possess a background in plaintiff-side employment matters. Qualified candidates will be comfortable drafting motions, responding to discovery and initial pleadings. Candidates must have strong research, writing and analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Stay current of federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Collaborate with clients, teams, and team leaders to develop and pursue W&H cases, including class actions.
Draft various legal documents, including pleadings, complaints, discovery, motions, and court filings for both State and Federal Courts.
Conduct in-depth research on legal issues relevant to employment law cases, and present and argue motions when necessary.
Oversee the mediation and court approval processes for employment cases, including drafting preliminary approval motions and arguing final approval and fees motions.
Manage the filing of pleadings, track service of process, and ensure compliance with statute of limitations deadlines.
Actively participate in select mediations and have multiple opportunities for “second chair” mediation experiences in employment law class action matters.
Handle employment-related disputes, including discrimination and wrongful termination cases.
Collaborate with HR departments and management to develop employment policies and ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
Experience with PAGA, wage & hour and class action matters a plus
Exceptional writing, research, and oral communication skills.
JD degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership in the California State Bar.
3-5 years of experience practicing employment law on the plaintiff side.
Strong knowledge of federal and state employment regulations.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Self-starter with expertise in all phases of litigation, including interpreting laws and regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft office and case management software.
