About the Role
In this role, you will immediately become a key member of a team delivering world-class customer experiences at world-class events around the world. You will be the financial lead on a cross-functional team responsible for a portfolio of events – working closely with our partner managers, product developers, event operators and many others along the way.
Initially you will have responsibly for preparing event budgets and forecasts, leveraging the participation and input of many across the business - in time you will develop deep engagement across our company and our partnerships. As you learn our programs and events, you’ll bring your financial acumen to the table in a way that will see you provide timely and actionable information and insights that will make a real contribution to what we do and how we do it.
This role is a terrific opportunity to apply your finance and accounting experience in partnership with some of the leading sports and entertainment properties in the world as part of an engaged and motivated team. The role will be based in-office at our corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC and reports to our Director of Event Finance.
Responsibilities
Oversee events >$5M in total revenue and/or programs >$50M in total revenue.
Lead the preparation and presentation of budgets and forecasts for a portfolio of global sporting events in partnership with amazing colleagues across departments and around the world
Be the subject matter expert as it relates to the commercial and financial elements of your events, learn them inside and out and feel comfortable talking about them with any number of different audiences along the way
Proactively track periodic results as compared to budgets to inform required updates to plans, highlighting areas of over/under performance, identifying issues well in advance of the event date and working with the team to deliver incredible events for our customers on budget
Ensure that any required updates are communicated to relevant stakeholders on a regular basis, including working closely with our FP&A team to track potential impacts to consolidated company models
Prepare and deliver post-event summaries both internally with our senior management team and externally with the leaders of our league and team partners; focus on both the numbers themselves and the story behind the numbers and insights into our business
Collaborate with our accounting team to ensure that actualized event results are captured in our financial accounting system accurately and on time as well as our financial reporting team to make sure event results can be explained with insightful context as part of company presentations
Experience and Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance, or equivalent work experience
3+ years of accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel (pivots, lookups, other advanced functions)
Experience with ERP accounting and FP&A software would be a strong differentiator
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability build positive working relationships with all levels within the organization while balancing conflicting priorities
Strong attention to detail and accuracy with high standards for quality; ability to keep accurate and detailed records
Experience in the sports, entertainment and hospitality industries would be relevant for the role, but is not required
