Job Duties
The National Center for the Study of Blockchain and FinTech (The FinTech Center) at the Graves School of Business and Management, Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, seeks a dedicated and dynamic Outreach Coordinator. This key role involves coordination of the outreach function of the Center, providing operational leadership to ensure the successful delivery of blockchain and FinTech-related programs, conferences, workshops, and events. The Coordinator will play a pivotal role in enhancing the Center’s impact across Morgan State University and other Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), promoting excellence in blockchain and FinTech education and research. We seek an individual passionate about driving innovation, building meaningful partnerships, and contributing to the success of our students and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Align the Center’s outreach initiatives with the strategic goals of Morgan State University and the Graves School of Business and Management.
• Develop and implement innovative outreach programs that promote blockchain and FinTech education and research.
• Foster partnerships and collaborations with industry, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to enhance the Center’s reach and impact.
Program Development and Management
• Coordinate blockchain and FinTech-related programs, conferences, workshops, webinars, and other events at Morgan State University and across several HBCUs.
• Ensure that all programs meet operational targets, quality assurance standards, and performance metrics.
• Monitor program execution, outcomes, and impact, making adjustments as necessary to align with the Center’s strategic goals.
• Expand the Center’s network by constantly adding new faculty, students, administrators, and corporate partners to the Center’s database list.
• Maintain and preserve the integrity of the Center’s responsibility in protecting privacy and security of the individual in the Center’s databases.
• Protect the contact databases created by the Center as its proprietary assets.
Operational Excellence
• Perform the day-to-day tasks and the operations of various functions, ensuring smooth execution of all activities.
• Manage, resources, and logistics for all outreach programs and events.
• Lead, motivate, collaborate, in teams settings to achieve excellence in all endeavors.
• Participate in training programs and upskilling workshops as needed.
Communication, Engagement, and Fund-raising
• Effectively communicate the Center’s mission, programs, and achievements to diverse audiences.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including students, faculty, industry partners, and community organizations.
• Develop strategies and engage with corporations to raise funds to support the Center’s programs and events.
• Produce high-quality written and oral communications, including reports, presentations, and promotional materials.
• Maintain the Center’s web site on a regular basis. Develop various assets for the website.
Research Support
• Collaborate with faculty and students to promote research in blockchain and FinTech, facilitating the integration of research findings into outreach programs.
Stay abreast of industry trends and developments in blockchain and FinTech, ensuring the Center’s programs remain cutting-edge.
Additional Requirements
• This on-campus role requires flexibility in scheduling, including the availability to work evenings and weekends for special events as necessary.
• The ideal candidate will be proactive, flexible, resourceful, and able to maintain a professional image while adapting to the evolving landscape of blockchain and FinTech research and service. Being able to work in an environmentwhere the workload fluctuates throughout the year.
Requested Minimum Qualifications
Education
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field from accredited college or university with an emphasis on Information Technology and/or Finance.
Experience
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in managing outreach, educational, or research programs is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and operational leadership in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in the use of productivity software.
• Demonstrated ability in marketing programs and events.
• Strong organizational, planning, and execution skills.
• Demonstrated ability and skills in website maintenance, blogging tools
• Demonstrated ability and skills in social media tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
Other Preferences for Consideration
• Experience in managing blockchain and/or FinTech-related programs.
• Familiarity with the academic environment, particularly within HBCUs.
• A track record of successful event planning and management.
• Sales and marketing experience.
