POSITION SUMMARY

This non-exempt position collaborates with physicians, both internally and externally, to develop and implement a seamless progression of care to meet the patient's needs. If the position relates to radiation oncology, collaboration with physics personnel, radiation therapists, and other members of the Radiation Oncology team is crucial. The individual must have the ability to triage patients and workload. The LVN must adhere to the LVN scope of practice

What you will be doing

May include checking schedules and organizing patient flow and utilizing exam rooms efficiently; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing patients and room for an appropriate exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/nurses with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions and results to patients/families with concern and empathy; triaging calls and returning calls timely, and providing pertinent information to physicians, staff, and patients.

Sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/imaging reports, hospital notes, referral information, test results, etc. timely and in preparation for applicable appointments; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.

Setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocols; following sterile techniques to clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment, ensuring all instruments and equipment is operational and able to provide valid results; cleaning instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; cleaning sterilizer according to the scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records; ordering, sorting, storing supplies, and restocking exam/procedure rooms; maintaining crash cart.

Respecting/promoting patient rights; respecting patient confidentiality and privacy and communicating in a courteous and respectful manner: responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with office coordinator or immediate supervisor; carrying out direct or indirect physician orders accurately. Performs delegated functions using processes and procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards, verbal or written, established by the Company or the Division.

May vary according to state law, which may include medical/surgical asepsis, sterilization, instrument wrapping and autoclaving; checking vital signs or mensuration; preparing for and assisting with physical examinations; clinical pharmacology; drug administration through various routes including injections.

What you will bring to the team Graduate of an Accredited Vocational Nursing School and have a State of California license.

Skill in effectively communicating both orally and in writing with physicians, co-workers, administration, and the public.

Skill in using computer systems and general office equipment used to effectively perform job functions

Certification of Basic Life Support

IV certification
