Orbital is currently seeking a Structural Engineer with experience in structural steel and foundation design. The position requires experience in heavy industrial engineering projects—preferably in the refining industry and will be based in Houston, TX.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Field engineering and structural inspections as they relate to work scope
Assist with engineering studies, calculations, detailed design documents and specifications, project cost estimates, and providing installation support services
Perform analytical modeling of structures and components of structures utilizing STAAD software
Structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation design
Manage project progress relative to project plan, schedule, and budget
Review calculations, drawings, and reports produced by other structural engineers
Minimum Requirements
BS Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university
Five years of prior professional experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas
Experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and/or foundation design
Working knowledge of STAAD analytical software or equivalent
Ability to perform field inspections at higher elevations
Preferred Qualifications
MS Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university
Inspection experience
This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.
