Development Director

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under the supervision of the President/CEO, the Development Director is responsible for the administration and supervision of fund-raising for the agency. The incumbent will serve as the lead on revenue strategies which include but are not limited to, and implementation and, stewardship of current institutional partnerships, and individual donors, as well as identifying and securing new funding.

The Development Director supervises the Development & Communications team to achieve fundraising goals.

The incumbent will be an effective relationship builder and storyteller who can bring the agency’s mission to life through strong presentations, communication, and grant proposals that inspire partners to invest financial resources, in-kind donations, and their expertise. Ideal candidate attributes will include teamwork, organizational skills, time management, strategic thinker and a proactive problem solver who uses data to drive progress towards goals. The incumbent will work to enhance donor engagement tools that build genuine connection advancing this important work including prioritizing time and resources to ensure effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS

College graduate with Minimum of two years development experience with proven fund-raising record. Excellent communication skills; and qualifications.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required with a business background preferred.

Strong interpersonal and written and oral communication skills.

Proficiency with PC-based Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word for Windows, Microsoft Excel, and/or comparable spreadsheet and word-processing software is essential.

Ability to meet deadlines, plan ahead, and balance multiple high-profile agency priorities simultaneously.

Experience managing budgets and multiple projects required.

Knowledge of region’s fundraising landscape, with the ability to network and collaborate with a wide array of stakeholders.

Strong strategic thinking skills with an ability to use data to make decisions and to translate strategy to action.

Detail oriented, results oriented and strong attention to follow-through.

A collegial team player with a proven ability to motivate, engage and work collaboratively at all levels with prospect donors, volunteers, staff, colleagues, and community members.

Ability to coach and mentor peers and executives on effective fundraising practice.

Flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable agency needs and willingness to work outside standard established business hours.

Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.

Passion for ASD’s mission and values.

Positive, upbeat attitude that supports staff and the organization.

Sensitivity to culturally, racially and sexually diverse client, staff and volunteer populations is essential.

A valid driver’s license is required along with the ability to lift, push, or pull thirty (30) pounds.

WORK HOURS:

Regular office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, but flexible for evenings and weekends. This is a full time position that will require occasional additional hours.

SALARY RANGE : $75,000 to $95,000 per year
