Position Summary:
As Manager, IT Program Management, you'll play a crucial role in their transformative journey, overseeing the execution of key initiatives and leading a team within their Lean-Agile Center of Excellence (LACE). This role combines expertise in both waterfall and agile methodologies, with a focus on setting up and managing a Project Management Office (PMO). Initially, you'll work in a hybrid model, coming into the Oakland General Office (OGO) 1-2 times per week to acclimate with the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the LACE team, consisting of program and project managers.
Establish and oversee the PMO, ensuring effective governance and delivery of complex programs/projects.
Drive agile maturity across the organization, leading the Agile Center of Excellence.
Govern approximately 700 projects, balancing infrastructure and application initiatives within IT.
Utilize your experience in managing teams, particularly within PMO or LACE organizations.
Implement successful PMO setups and scaling strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Collaborate with stakeholders to drive large-scale, complex program management efforts.
Manage a team of agile coaches and project/program managers, supporting their professional development.
Utilize Microsoft Suite proficiency, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
7+ years of experience leading direct reports and managing teams in a matrixed organization, including experience leading program and project managers.
Extensive experience in leading PMOs and managing complex programs/projects using waterfall and agile methodologies, with a demonstrated track record in driving Enterprise-wide agile transformation and maturity.
Proven experience in standing up a PMO will be considered a bonus.
Familiarity with Planisware preferred but not mandatory.
Certifications in agile space desirable, PMP certification desired but not essential.
Understanding of portfolio-level management and governance.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to effectively lead agile transformations and communicate across teams.
