Abilities, Skills & Knowhow:
Basic HVAC System Knowledge: Understanding the basic components of HVAC systems (e.g., furnace, air conditioner, ductwork) and their functions.
Basic Refrigeration Cycle: Familiarity with the principles of the refrigeration cycle, including how heat is absorbed and expelled between a condenser and evaporator.
Tool Proficiency: Competence in using basic hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers) and HVAC-specific tools (e.g., gauges, meters).
Basic Electrical Knowledge: Understanding of simple electrical concepts and safety, including the ability to use multimeters for basic measurements.
Brazing and Soldering Skills: Basic skills in brazing and soldering copper/aluminum tubing, crucial for installing and repairing refrigerant lines.
Safety Protocols: Awareness and adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage to prevent injuries and accidents on the job.
Ductwork Basics: Basic knowledge of duct/airflow best practices, as well as the ability to assist in modifications and sealing ducts for efficient airflow.
Reading Wiring Diagrams: Ability to read and understand simple wiring diagrams and schematics for installation and troubleshooting.
Customer Service: Basic customer service skills, including effective communication and professionalism when interacting with homeowners.
Installation Procedures: Understanding of standard installation procedures for HVAC equipment, reading installation manuals, setting up units, connecting systems, and basic troubleshooting.
Worksite Organization: Keeping the worksite organized and clean as you go, managing tools and materials efficiently.
Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively, ensuring tasks are completed within allocated timeframes.
Teamwork: Ability to work well within a team, following directions from senior technicians and contributing to the project's success.
Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques, tools, and technologies in the HVAC industry.
Physical Fitness: Good physical condition to handle the demands of the job, including lifting, bending, and working in tight spaces and extreme temperatures.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of one year of prior HVAC installation experience or a trade school certificate in HVAC.
Driving Record: Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Company’s insurance carrier
Background Check: Must maintain the ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
Certifications: Must possess an EPA certification.
