Since 1965, Action Inc. has provided those in need in the Cape Ann community with resources to improve their lives, including energy savings through increased insulation in homes and energy efficiency measures. Today, Action Inc's Energy Services provides weatherization services to 31 of 34 towns in Essex county. The Building Performance Specialist (BPS) conducts energy audits on income eligible homes. Working with residents, the BPS assesses a home from top to bottom; installs energy saving devices such as lightbulbs, power strips, thermostats, and shower heads; makes recommendations for energy saving Improvements and works with contractors to see those improvements realized. Communication with residents and contractors is paramount and includes the resolution of any issues resulting from inspection findings. The BPS is the sole project manager and is responsible for all processing from the initial inspection to the final payment and filing of job materials. This job involves considerable fieldwork-up to 60% spent in home assessments and local travel (within 1 hour of the office)-and the remainder in office work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Educate homeowners on the benefits of energy efficiency improvements.
Visual inspection of homes; use of a tape measure, calculating area, volume, and square footage.
Implement program practices/procedures.
Install energy saving items and ensure customer safety by evaluating their heating equipment.
Coordinate activities between contractors, owners, customers, and all other parties involved throughout the administrative and technical processes.
Willingness to travel statewide throughout Massachusetts for project management and oversight.
Complete and manage all processing and digital filing requirements in a timely manner.
Provide timely and accurate data as requested by managers and funding sources.
Stay up to date on changing program requirements and offerings.
Attend and participate in departmental, organization-wide, and other meetings.
Act in the best interest of the organization, reflecting the values of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education & Experience:
1-2 years of work experience in related field.
Drivers' license required and reliable daily transportation.
Experience in energy conservation and/or building/construction preferred.
Building Performance Institute certified, preferred, but will pay for training.
Must pass Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities certification training within 90 days of hire.

Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in web-based project management systems, Microsoft suite, and Outlook, preferred. Willingness to learn auditing and appliance management software.
Ability to comply with pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Second language desired but not required.
Physical Demands: Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, kneel, and sit for long periods, able to lift and climb ladders and lift up to 40 lbs.
