Team Description
We are currently seeking a generalist investment analyst, who will work across public and private asset classes. Analysts work closely with GEM’s senior investment team to source, evaluate, and monitor investments, and interface with all members of the 75-person organization. Analysts will assist with manager diligence, monitor existing relationships, source new ideas, and research investment theses.
Job Description
We are seeking driven individuals to join the GEM Investment Team. Analysts are expected to work with GEM for at least two to three years, acquiring the fundamental skills necessary to invest well. Analysts at GEM assist in all phases of executing our investment strategy. This experience serves as a unique first step for individuals that would like to pursue a career as an investor. GEM Analysts have grown to pursue careers in private equity, public equities (hedge funds), and real estate, while others have started businesses or gone to top-tier business schools.
Key Responsibilities
The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Evaluate the risks and merits of potential fund and co-investment opportunities by combining quantitative and qualitative research
Develop an understanding of the core asset classes that make up the GEM investment portfolio
Monitor existing, and research prospective, manager investments
Assist in the execution and oversight of co-investments
Advance GEM’s collaborative culture while working diligently in a fast-paced environment
Develop relationships with other industry professionals
Travel regularly (domestic and international)
Requirements
Successful candidates will display traits inherent in GEM’s collegial and team-oriented culture,
including enthusiasm, honesty, humility, integrity, and curiosity:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study
Prior investment experience is not a must, but a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Sound quantitative abilities, a bias for action, and a team orientation
