Our team supports the synthesis of adhesives that go into a variety of products from wood products such as plywood and particle board to glass mats for shingles. In this role you will be interacting with R&D, manufacturing and our customers. The job will be focused on the design and synthesis of the adhesives so is chemistry centered but with customer needs in mind.
Job Description & Responsibilities
Support the identification, development, and deployment of new technologies to advance innovation strategies and provide critical expertise in formaldehyde-based chemistry and applications.
Support the translate business strategy to technical needs, engage internally and externally to identify and assess new ideas, and develop fundamental understanding necessary to bring new chemistry from idea to commercial success.
Support Technical Service function through problem solving, sampling, and testing.
Support operations to ensure quality manufacture of resin products.
BS or MS in the field of Chemistry, Polymer or Wood Science
Knowledge and experience with chemical hygiene, laboratory safety and environmental compliance
Preferred
Synthesis and formulation experience in thermoset resins, specifically phenol-, urea-, melamine- formaldehyde polymers
Experience applying thermosetting resins to relevant wood products processes (e.g. particleboard / MDF, OSB, PLY)
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally 10-20% of time.
