Mechanical Construction Supervisor

Representing one of the industry leaders, we are searching for a Mechanical Constructioin Supervisor providing on-site oversight, coordinator, management and technical expertise to work alongside the CM in monitoring the scope, schedule and resources of the Mechanical Equipment & Piping Installation sub.
Responsibilities will include monitoring installation means and methods and ensuring all specs and design requirements are met during the installation phase of the project.
Job Functions
•Supervise and monitor the daily work activities of the Mechanical & Piping Installation
Subcontractor to assure compliance with design documents (drawings & specifications) and
installation details of pumps, compressors, mechanical equipment skids, pipe racks and piping
systems
•Monitor installation progress against the project schedule to assure production levels are being
met to meet the overall project schedule
•Assist PPG's Project Scheduler with the maintenance and updating of the electrical portion of
the overall project schedule
•Coordinate electrical work activities with other project execution subcontractor activities such
as foundation installation, electrical equipment installation, etc.
•Act as a liaison between the Engineer of Record and Mechanical Subcontractor to answer RFI's
•Communicate with PPG's On-Site Construction Manager to update him/her on problem areas
•Work with PPG's On-Site Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager to assure the proper
testing and QA/QC activities are being conducted and documented
•Participate in the Plan of the Day meeting each morning
•Assist the PPG site team with obtaining data from the electrical subcontractor for input to and
coordination of the 3-week look ahead schedule
•Ensure a safe work environment by assisting PPG's Site Safety Manager in conducting safety
audits, attending subcontractor daily safety meetings and obtaining the appropriate
documentation of same
•Assure equipment storage preventative maintenance is in place (equipment is stored in
accordance with manufacturers recommendations,) and obtaining the appropriate
documentation from the mechanical subcontractor during weekly audits of stored
equipment/materials
•Assist Start-Up team during commissioning & turn-over activities
Qualifications
•A four (4) year engineering degree or equivalent combination of training and/or related
experience. Knowledge of mechanical work practices in a union environment is required. (Work
assignments to Boilermakers, Millwrights, Pipefitters, Plumbers, etc.)
•Substantial construction field experience as well as the ability to perform administrative tasks
•Must have a valid drivers license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record
