Portland, OR, United States

Project Title: Assessment of Behavioral Health integration in Rural Health Clinics in Oregon

Location: Remote

Duration of Project: 2 terms (6 months)

Stipend: Yes

Preceptor: Sarah Andersen, Director, Field Services – [email protected]

Start Date: 6/24/2024

Project Description

Through a grant awarded to the Oregon Office of Rural Health (ORH) by the National Rural Health Association, this project will focus on performing an environmental scan of behavioral health integration in Oregon’s 109 certified Rural Health Clinics (RHCs). The environmental scan will utilize a mixed methods analysis approach via surveys and interviews (either focus groups or one-on-one interviews) to understand how RHCs have integrated behavioral health into their clinics, or, if they have not yet, their plans to do so. ORH would also like to understand RHCs’ relationships to public health behavioral health resources.

Project Deliverables

Student will create assessment tools for the environmental scan, including a survey and interview protocol.

Student will recruit RHCs to participate in the survey and interviews (ORH has active relationships with RHCs already)

In addition to the survey and interviews, the student will lead a focus group to gather more data at the Oregon Rural Health Conference in Bend, Oregon October 2-4, 2024.

Student will write a report to articulate the findings of the environmental scan.
