AMVAC is seeking a Process Safety Manager (PSM) / Chemical Engineer to join our team.
As the Process Safety Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our chemical manufacturing processes enhancing and maintaining process safety within our Los Angeles plant. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Risk Management Program (RMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Pressure Relief Device (PRD) systems, and Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
The Job:
Provide Process Safety Leadership by developing and implementing process safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Ensure compliance with all 14 elements of PSM through the Process Units PSM leaders and document Process Safety Information (PSI)
Lead the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies to identify and mitigate potential process safety hazards
Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams to ensure that process safety is integrated into all aspects of the manufacturing process
Conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies
Oversee the Risk Management Program (RMP) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Maintain and update RMP documentation, including process safety information and risk assessment reports
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to assess and control risks associated with new processes and process modifications
Assist Emergency Response Teams and the Planning committee to conduct incident investigations and validate remediation
Implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes and prevent recurrence
Maintain the Mechanical Integrity and Preventive Maintenance inspections and records including developing equipment inspection and testing programs; documenting equipment inspection, testing and repair procedures; coordinating with consultants and contractors
Support the PRD (Pressure Relief Device) inspection, testing and program administration to guarantee their reliability
Monitor the MOC process to evaluate and control modifications to processes, equipment, and documentation
Collaborate with relevant departments to assess the impact of changes on process safety
Foster a strong process safety culture by promoting awareness and understanding of process safety principles
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree is a plus
5+ years of experience in process safety management within a chemical manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and industry standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
Trained PHA Facilitator / Leader
Knowledge of RMP requirements, OSHA regulations, PRD systems, and MOC procedures
Experience conducting data analysis and root cause analysis using various programs; Risk and consequence modeling experience desirable
Computer skills including Microsoft WORD, EXCEL and PowerPoint
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Must pass post‐offer drug test, background check and other appropriate tests as required

Base pay range, not including bonus or other incentives, is $90,000 to $110,000 annually
