Specialist Community Engagement Worker, PCORI

The Community Engagement Worker functions as a member of a multidisciplinary research team that conducts community-based research. Primary responsibilities include engagement of community partners to assist in recruitment, retention, and dissemination of study results.
This position generally functions within community organization including clinics, hospitals, schools, and community based or religious organizations in the Greater New Orleans area with frequent time spent on the computer, or interacting with participants, families, and other health and community members via telephone, electronically, or face-to-face. This position also involves working in the community, including travel within the greater New Orleans Area. Position may require frequent travel between Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and other study partners.
•Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Word, Access, Excel, and various other software programs.
•Act as a liaison between the study team and community partners.
•Take the lead on developing and implementing recruitment strategies.
•Assist participants with navigation of the study processes.
•Facilitate referrals from community partners to screening processes.
•Speak with diverse populations about the research study.
•Advocate for the study to ensure active participation engagement.
•Provide participants with community resources as needed.
•Maintain data and files for recruitment and retention efforts.
•Fulfill other duties, as assigned.
•High School Diploma or Equivalent
•1 year of health/clinical experience or equivalent health-related education
•Bachelor's Degree
•2 years of research and/or data collection experience
•Knowledge of community resources and experience working with a variety of community-based organizations.
