Our mission at PAWS Atlanta is to help pets and people. We are a passionate team of animal lovers who have dedicated our time and energy to rescuing homeless pets. Our team is made up of Animal Care Specialists, Adoption Counselors, Veterinary Assistants, Administrative Employees, and a Veterinarian, and we are all determined to make our community a safer and better place for everyone living in it, including the cats and dogs.

Responsibilities
The Executive Director of PAWS Atlanta collaborates with various stakeholders including the Board of Directors, staff, adopters, fosters, volunteers, and donors to ensure that the organization meets its strategic and annual objectives. The role encompasses a range of responsibilities such as:
Leadership
Ignite passion for our mission among stakeholders through effective storytelling.
Collaborate with the board and staff to develop a compelling vision and create annual plans to realize this vision.
Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment by leading hands-on and valuing diverse perspectives.
Foster healthy communication by being attuned to group dynamics.
Display enthusiasm and optimism while projecting a bold vision for PAWS Atlanta.
Fundraising
Act as the chief fundraiser, instilling a culture of fundraising within the organization.
Cultivate relationships with donors, securing major gifts while being accessible for discussions.
Work with the development team to secure financial support aligned with PAWS Atlanta’s Strategic Plan.
Operations and Technology
Ensure compliance with obligations towards animals, staff, vendors, stakeholders, regulatory bodies while maintaining safety standards.
Advocate for continuous improvement in processes.
Leverage technology for optimal data management and operational efficiency.
Board Partnership
Foster a respectful and trusting partnership with board members.
Support board operations including administration planning and information dissemination.
Strengthen all board functions in collaboration with governance committee chair.
People Excellence
Lead a diverse team passionate about our mission ensuring their professional development.
Address inequities promoting an inclusive environment through ongoing education.
Excel in onboarding recruitment retention management development
Financial Excellence
Develop strategic plans enhancing organizational financial health.
Communicate fiscal status transparently ensuring stakeholder awareness.
Familiarize oneself with nonprofit tax returns audits compliance issues.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field is required; a Master’s degree in Business, Social Sciences, or a related field is preferred. A degree or certificate in nonprofit management will be considered an advantage.
Candidates should have 10+ years of experience in leadership positions within nonprofit organizations, with a strong preference for those who have managed and grown revenues and funding sources in organizations with operational budgets of $2 million or more.
Demonstrated experience in functional leadership and operations management is essential.
Familiarity with operational procedures at all levels of the organization is required to ensure streamlined and effective business processes.
Advanced problem-solving and analytical capabilities are necessary, coupled with a data-driven mindset to make informed decisions.
Previous fundraising experience is required; expertise in Capital Campaigns will be highly regarded.
