Grace Institute is a secular project of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church and is supported in part by the Grace Memorial Episcopal Church Foundation. All three entities are interrelated in structure and mission to respond to the needs of and celebrate the gifts of our urban community.

Reports to: Grace Institute Board of Directors

Supervises: Art Camp Director, Operations Manager/Registrar, Business Manager/ Bookkeeper/HR Manager

Hours and Salary: 30 hours/week; $32 - $34/hour depending on experience plus a monthly health insurance stipend.

Summary:

The Executive Director is the key management leader of Grace Institute. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Position Description:

The position of Executive Director of Grace Institute is responsible for the development and implementation of all art camps and art classes currently in place at Grace Institute. These currently include Grace Art Camp, Winter Peace Camp, and Spring Break Camp, plus seasonal (winter) art classes and Art of Recycling Festival (fall).

The Executive Director implements and develops all current and evolving Grace Institute outreach efforts at the local and global levels. He/she will work with the Board of Directors in decision-making and/or initiation related to all projects.

Work hours will vary depending on the workload demands and status of the camps, typically about 30 hours/week.

Job Responsibilities:

· Supervise and manage all permanent, year-round (non-seasonal) GI staff.

· Actively promote and support the mission of Grace Institute and its programming and relationships with the broader community as defined by the Board of Directors.

· Provide the Board of Directors with information, guidance, and support to facilitate their ability to appropriately govern, provide financial oversight and develop policies.

· Assist the Board with identifying and recruiting potential Board members while integrating them into the organization. Involve the Board in fundraising processes.

· Perform as an effective strategic partner, innovator, and leader within the community, working closely with partners including the separate entities of Grace Institute Board of Directors, Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, and Grace Foundation, maintaining, and developing positive working relationships. Lead strategic planning and build consensus around priorities. Collaborate with the Grace Commons Team in the planning process for future property/space upgrades for GMEC, GI, and NWHA affordable housing on the GMEC campus.

· Review and oversee facility updates and requirements, as needed in the day-to-day operations and any future program developments. Evaluate the physical space for program needs both current and future.

· Promote a passion for, and cultivation of, attitudes, perspectives, behaviors, and policies that promote equity, diversity, inclusion and cultural responsiveness as a key organizational value through leadership, programming, and decision making.

· Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.

· Monitor annual budget; includes monthly submittal of proposed budget and financial reports to the Board of Directors accurately reflecting the financial condition of the organization.

· Responsible for grant writing, fundraising, and developing other resources necessary to support Grace Institute’s mission.

· In collaboration with fellow staff and Grace Institute Board, work to develop new programs of interest to the broader community.

· Maintain policies and procedures for all functions including day-to-day operation of the organization with board approval.

· Hire, supervise, and evaluate permanent administrative staff.

· In collaboration with the Art Camp Director, Operations Manager and Business Manager, oversee marketing and other communication efforts including website maintenance, social media, and electronic newsletters.

· Adheres to the highest standards of respect and personal and professional integrity.

· Demonstrates facilitation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.

Required Experience/Qualifications/Abilities:

· Strong budget management skills; budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.

· Ability to work independently or collaboratively.

· Passion and dedication to the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

· Possesses good leadership abilities and organizational skills.

· Ability to efficiently manage projects and balance multiple priorities while maintaining a positive outlook and excel in a collaborative environment.

· Must be able to successfully pass a background check.

· Ability and willingness to work a seasonal and flexible schedule, including some evenings, early mornings, and occasional weekends.

· Must have or be able to obtain CPR/ first aid training.

Desired Experience/Qualifications/Abilities:

· Ability to work with Art Camp families when issues arise.

· Fundraising and grant writing

· Familiarity with Grace Institute/Grace Art Camp and its philosophies.

· Patient, enthusiastic, and dependable with a good sense of humor and strong work ethic.

· Aware of OSHA laws and behavioral camper management regulations.

· Must have proficient technology skills, including Microsoft Office/365. Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram), webpage editing (WordPress), and camp management software a plus.
